Location of Pompeii and Herculaneum
Address: Pompeii Archaeological Park, Via Villa dei Misteri, 80045 Pompei (Napoli), Italy. Herculaneum Archaeological Park, Corso Resina 187, 80056 Ercolano (Napoli), Italy.
Closest landmark: Both parks sit at the foot of Mount Vesuvius on the Bay of Naples, with the Circumvesuviana stations Pompei Scavi and Ercolano Scavi each a short walk from their park entrances.
Pompeii lies about 23 kilometers southeast of Naples on a volcanic plateau overlooking the Sarno valley, while Herculaneum sits closer to the city in the modern town of Ercolano. Both are served by the same Circumvesuviana railway, so the two sites are easy to combine on one day out from Naples or Sorrento.
