Closest landmark: Caserta railway station faces the palace's main gate across Piazza Carlo di Borbone, while Pompeii lies about 23 kilometers southeast of Naples at the foot of Mount Vesuvius.
The two sites sit on opposite sides of Naples, Caserta roughly 30 kilometers north and Pompeii to the southeast, but both connect to Napoli Centrale by direct train, so each is an easy day trip from the city.
